Alex Bellegarde plays with many Montreal-based Cuban
musicians.

Artists such as Yoel Diaz, Jésus Alejandro 'El Nino', Orlando Lavielle, Giovanni Arteaga,  Eugenio Kiko Osorio, Jesus Cantero, Pedrito A Gonzales, Oscar Fuentes, Osmundo Calzado, as well as the ensembles Latin Jazz Sextet, Team Timba, The Montreal Cuban All Stars, Convoy Cubano, Havana Nights and Los Tumbadores, Los Corales, Québa and Acéré to name just a few. 

He has also played at festivals and special events with legendary artists  from the US and Cuba: Candido Camero, Chiquitin and Viti Ruiz.  Also Canadian artists Yousy Barbara Ruiz, Joé Armando Latin Jazz Ensemble, Roberto Lopez,  Sandra & the Latin Groove,  Joeito Torres Band, Macuyé de Cuba and Toronto-based, Cuban drummer Frank Durand

‹ I feel very fortunate to have worked with Cuban vocalist / percussionist Chiquitin, who began his career more than 50 years back.  When we first met we communicated via music, as neither of us spoke the other's language.  It was during his visit to Montreal in 2002 that he introduced me to his world of traditional Cuban music.  Connecting and playing with many Montreal-based, Cuban artists  has deepened my appreciation of Cuban 'Son', with its often very complex rhythms and the warmth and spontaneity of the musicians. › AB
